Map view
The seaside resort of Skegness takes pride of place on Lincolnshire's coast. It was originally a village home to fewer than 400 residents, who were mostly fisherman or farmers. It wasn't until the first rail link was built in the 1870s that the town really came to life.
Find the perfect seaside destination with a Skegness holiday
Skegness ranks highly amongst UK residents as a fantastic seaside holiday destination. Points of interest include the Jolly Fisherman, originally a poster with the tagline 'Skegness… is so bracing". It's said to be the biggest contributor to Skegness' rise to fame and is one of the most famous UK holiday advertisements of all time. It was originally drawn by artist John Hassall in 1908 and was commissioned by the Great Northern Railway Company to promote tourism in Skegness. An honorary statue of the Jolly Fisherman stands proudly in the town to this day. Visit the Diamond Jubilee Clock Tower, built at the end of the 19th Century to mark then-Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee and take a stroll down the iconic pier to enjoy views of the wonderful beach.
Lincolnshire is in an envious location with endless possibilities, nestled between Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and more. These Skegness holiday cottages range from quaint, single-storey properties that are cosy enough for two, to contemporary townhouses with more than enough space to bring along the whole family.
Book your self-catering cottage in Skegness today and you may be surprised to discover an array of attractions, plenty of child-friendly days out, a vibrant nightlife, plenty of eateries to leave you spoilt for choice, and you will see a charming seaside town in all its glory.
